Bitter winter!
As I step out the door I see the wind whip a snow cloud across the yard
And the sound of the wind howls in my ears echoing through my ear drums
As I turn and touch the door handle to close the door the cold air bites and my skin slightly freezes to the handle before I pull my hand away
my half frozen hand is on the warm thermos of hot chocolate and I ease it up to my lips and take a sip.
It tastes so warm and sweet on my tongue that I take another sip
And the rich dark chocolate smell reaches my nose I take another deep breath and continue on through the wintery day

Hottest summer day
It’s so hot out even though the sun’s setting on the horizon and temperature doesn’t change
Sitting next to the fire I hear the mosquitoes buzzing around ready to attack.
I grab the mosquito spray and somehow the metal can is still cool in this intense heat.
I press down on the top and spray myself down… top to bottom to keep the mosquitoes away, but I make the mistake of spraying it too close to my chin and it sprays straight into my mouth!
I taste the bitter nasty chemicals
I stand, grabbing the water and wash my mouth out!
As soon as I’m not near the fire I can smell the distinct smell of smoke lingering on me…
And I think, even though it’s so hot out, I love summer!

The restart of spring
Spring is the beginning of a year, a new start.
In movies and in books spring is bright
The grass is green the sun shines,
Bees often buzz around going from flower to flower,
people often have picnics on checkered blankets laying around in parks,
Eating delicious ham and cheese sandwiches, sweet, juicy strawberries and food all around them!
As smells of food and nectar from flowers waft through the parks full of people
But not in Canada.
Maybe in June, but normally spring has lots of snow and everything is brown and dead until May.
It’s not my favourite season but lots happens in spring to make the other seasons as amazing as they are!
